The Persians came to Datca Peninsula in 550s B.C. with Carian governor Harpagos. The Cnidus people who got the news that Harpagos is coming to conquer their city wanted to unite the both gulf by digging a tunnel to make two peninsulas one island and; the defense easier but they could not manage it. The city finally was conquered by the Persians.
