The purpose of this daily excursion is to make an
introduction into the history of a region known as one of the
oldest for grape and wine production for 4000 years. In this
specific tour we discover the portrait of the oldest and the biggest
wine producer in Cappadocia by visiting its wineyards, the cellar,
and historical sites of the region. All this we do by tasting 7
different wines of the region.
WINE
ROUTES OF CAPPADOCIA I
(WR1)
We
first direct towards little known part of the region to Yeşiloz
village to see the
church of St. Theodore
known with the biggest description of Jesus Christ in Cappadocia. We
then cross the Mount Topuz to arrive to Turasan Vineyards
located at the foot of Argeus Mountain, in Yavaş area. We
will do the tasting
on the vineyards where Kalecik Karası, Emir and Narince grapes
grow.The
lunch is taken in the old greek village of Sinasos with Turasan
wines.
In
the afternoon we explore
the village of
Sinassos
with beautiful old houses,
see
the beautiful
entrance of the church Constantine and St. Helen, and
the
church of St Basil.
We
then proceed to Turasan winery where all tasted wines are produced.
We visit the production center and get detailed information on the
process of production.
Our day ends at Zeynep vineyards created in 2001 with a final wine
tasting
WINE ROUTES OF
CAPPADOCIA – II (WR2)
This
tour will let us discover wines produced by other wineries located
in the region and also wines produced elsewhere by using local kind
emir grape of Cappadocia. We will also know in more detail about the
second wine producer of Cappadocia and
besides visiting the
little known historical sites of Cappadocia.
We
will taste 7 different wines produced by local companies as well as
national ones among which we see Kavaklıdere and Doluca wineries.
Our
day starts with a very pleasant walking in Kızılçukur,
through old traditional vineyards. This trekking will help us enjoy
the amazing natural landscape of Cappadocia and very beautifully
decorated rock-carved dovecotes of the region.
On
our way we will also visit the hidden
church with columns.
Our walk will end in
one of the least touched villages in Cappadocia, Çavuşin.
We will make our
first tasting upun arrival with cold sparkling wine produced with
Emir grape and than
discover the village.
Lunch
on a vineyard.
In
the afternoon we follow the red river (Kızılırmak) to proceed to
Açıksaray monastery complex and the
church of St.John the Baptist
located in the vicinity of Gulsehir town.We then go to Uchisar ares
to visit old wine cellar of Kocabag winery carved in volcanic
tufa. Our final tasting takes place in Kocabag Kav Butik
located near the Pigeon Valley in Uchisar.
